Wave of Light

What is Wave of Light?

Launched in 2021, Wave of Light is a virtual event held across the world, that aims to raise awareness about pregnancy and infant loss and infertility. It helps bring people together, creating a village for bereaved families to receive support from and allows families to remember their babies, giving them an opportunity to speak their name and keep their memory alive.

When is it held?

This event is held virtually on International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day, October 15th every year between 7pm-8pm.

How can I participate?

Light a candle at 7pm through to 8pm on October 15th. There are no rules or requirements, just the knowledge that with every candle that is burnt tonight, a little baby is remembered.

What more can I do during this time?

I have collated a list of 5 things that will help you through tonight, as times like these can be a time of reflection, making it an especially difficult time for bereaved parents and their support networks.

  1. Take a photo of your lit candle and post to social media with the hashtag #waveoflight2021 This will create a global wave of light across the globe showing that you stand with us.

  2. Say their name - Times like these are the perfect opportunity to say your child’s name. Speaking their name keeps their memory alive. If you would like for your child’s name to appear on our angel baby wall (coming soon), comment on our latest Wave of Light post and we will say your baby’s name with you.

  3. Go through your child’s personal belongings - our first Wave of Light in 2018, we decided to pull out our daughter’s memory box and look through all of her things. It was a beautiful way to remember her and our experience and gave us a beautiful moment to reflect on her life.

  4. Make a donation - If you feel you need to do more, you can make a donation in your child’s name to a foundation that helped during your experience. For ideas on where to donate, visit our Support page.

  5. Reach out - There is no better time to create your village. The people who want to share their story will be posting about Wave of Light, sharing their child’s name. Reach out to people and let them know you are thinking of them. There is nothing better than knowing your child is being remembered and that you have support around you available when you need it.

If you or someone you know needs support during this time, please visit our Support page for more information.

We stand with you, not just tonight, but every day. Remembering your child or children, honouring your journey, saying their name and acknowledging your pain. To those on the difficult journey of infertility, we send our support and love. You are not alone in this.

So much love,

Jess xxx
